The Cheese House

Het Kaashuis is a detached holiday home with its own entrance.

In front of the cottage is a garden with a terrace, which you can use. There are comfortable garden chairs and a patio set near the barbecue. Here you can enjoy private outdoor seating and enjoy views over the meadows.

In the evening you can enjoy the setting sun there.

The terrace at the back is a wonderful place to wake up with the sunrise; we also have garden chairs there. And if you're lucky, you might even spot an early golfer.

The cottage features a large living room with a beautiful view of the wooden roof trusses. There's a wood-burning stove and underfloor heating throughout.

There are several seating areas, one in front of the television and one in front of the wood-burning stove. There's also a comfortable sofa in front of the French doors, perfect for enjoying the view. Behind the living room is the bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. The bedroom features a spacious wardrobe and a king-size bed (2.10 meters long).

The spacious bathroom has a sink, toilet, and a large walk-in shower. We'll make sure there are plenty of towels and the bed is made.

In the area

The De Utrecht estate covers 2,500 hectares and has many hiking trails to explore.

The Andreasschotelroute is the best known.

The estate also has a natural burial ground, which is open to visitors and also has a number of walking routes.

Be sure to visit the lookout tower at the Fleas, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Flaes and spot birds.

Our neighbours at the golf course have a fantastic catering facility and a beautiful terrace, Boshuys Klein Utrecht.

You can enjoy both lunch and dinner here, even if you don't play golf. Reservations are recommended for dinner.

A little further along is Herberg In den Bockenreyder. Its enormous terrace, nestled in the woods, is a wonderful place to relax. In winter, we love going to the Herbergske, where the wood-burning stove is always lit.

For hikers who want to walk a few kilometers further, there's a restaurant called Voor Anker on the Wellenseind estate. They prepare everything deliciously fresh here, including take-away options.

De Buitenman is another great spot, just across the N269. It's a lovely 400-year-old inn with a large terrace. Be sure to also visit Krinkel de Winkel, a shop selling meat from their own farm, among other things.

And in Esbeek itself is the village café Schuttershof, which has been run by Esbeek residents themselves through the Esbeek cooperative since 2007. It's a wonderful place for lunch.

This beautiful photo was taken by

Kees van Limpt with the bathing ladies, part of the Andreas Schotel route.
